Swim and evening picnic at Casuarina Sands on the Murrumbidgee River. Meet on the RHS as you head to the river and go along past the boardwalk, to the shady area under the trees - bring blankets/chairs and your picnic dinner plus something to share - and your drink. As for all outdoor activities at this time of the year, come prepared with sun protection, and be aware of the dangers of swimming in river water when there are no life guards on duty. In the case of inclement weather, message Derek before 5pm to check if the activity is still taking place. Casuarina Sands, on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River is an ideal location for picnics, river swimming and fishing or to launch your kayak or canoe. It has shady riverside beaches, a playground, free barbecues and toilet facilities. It is also a popular fishing destination and you'll often see fisherman walking along the river to try their luck. With 360 degree views of the surrounding hills, Casuarina Sands is perfect to take in the best of the Cotter Precinct.
