Activity - Day, date and time:
<p>Meet at 6pm for a 6:15pm departure at the informal parking area beside Uriarra Road, 2.3 km beyond the entrance to Stromlo Forest Park. Be aware that there have been significant changes to the roads in this area and Uriarra Road is now accessed from John Gorton Drive along Opperman Avenue.</p> <p>The walk is on unsealed fire trails and involves a 160m ascent. The rating is medium as there is one steep section with a loose surface; please wear hiking boots or shoes with soles that grip well. Bring water and torch in case it gets dark before we complete the walk. From Mt Stromlo there are magnificent views over Central Canberra, Woden, Weston Creek and the new Cotter Dam. We will also visit the historic grave of the first Director of Mt Stromlo Observatory.</p> <p>Join us afterwards for an inexpensive meal in Weston Creek.
